Community Education's Pickleball Instructor will be offering a beginner session in June.
How about trying a new sport pickleball! Seriously, it is the goofy name of a fast-growing game that’s a combination of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton.
Join this class to learn to play Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the world. Pickleball is easy to learn (but difficult to master). Pickleball is a lifetime sport that you will pick up quickly. Please make the commitment to all 3 nights. Wear comfortable clothing and a good pair of athletic shoes. Bring water. Equipment can be borrowed from the group to start.
Session 1: June 25, July 2 & 9 6:00-7:30 PM
Maximum students 8
$30 - Must attend all classes for the session.
Pickleball is played on a court that’s about 40 percent of the size of a regulation tennis court. Players use wooden or composite rackets that are slightly larger than ping-pong paddles to hit a plastic ball back and forth over a net. The net is a few inches lower than a standard tennis net.
The game was invented in the 1960s by several parents vacationing in Bainbridge Island, Washington. The parents wanted their kids to do something outdoors instead of lying around inside all day. They found a hodgepodge of equipment and invented a new sport. Little did they know it would grow into the fastest-growing sport in the USA.
