AMERICAN RED CROSS WILDERNESS FIRST AID
Program Description: The Wilderness First Aid course is designed for outdoor recreationists/enthusiasts, people that work in remote or rural areas or those that just like to be outside of the city which puts them miles from a medical facility. Great for guides and leaders of Boundary Waters Trips, camp counselors, hunters, fishermen, foresters, boy/girl scout leaders or small communities where the EMS system may not be able to respond immediately to an emergency. The course covers how to deal with common injuries and illnesses to prepare responders with how to deal with emergencies before they happen. You need to have completed CPR/AED Class.
Program Objectives:
Primary and Secondary Assessment
Head (Brain), Neck and Spinal Injuries
Heat-Related Emergencies and Hypothermia
Altitude-Related Illnesses, Allergies and Anaphylaxis
Bone and Joint Injuries and Burns
Wounds and Wound Infection
Splinting with available material
